Early Career & Education

Eric Cecava grew up in North Platte and Ogallala, Nebraska, and studied industrial engineering at Purdue University before earning a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University. His early professional work was in manufacturing and supply chain operations, first at Delphi Automotive as a lean implementation specialist and then at Honeywell International, where he managed plant operations and supply chain functions for consumer products facilities across the Midwest.

Adena Health System

In 2010, Eric Cecava moved into healthcare, joining Adena Health System in South Central Ohio. Over eight years there, he progressed from System Director of Business Intelligence and Process Excellence, where he led Lean Six Sigma deployment across the organization, to VP of Regional Operations and System Quality, and ultimately to Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he had responsibility for three hospitals and an integrated medical group serving 400,000 patients across 12 counties.

McLaren Port Huron — COO & CEO

He joined McLaren Port Huron in Michigan in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer and was named President and CEO in 2020, a position he held through 2026. In that role, he oversaw McLaren Port Huron Hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and an integrated medical group serving 235,000 patients across three counties. His work included physician recruitment and contracting, clinical program development, facilities expansion, EHR implementation, employee engagement, and quality outcomes.

Credentials & Personal

Eric Cecava holds a Certified Project Manager credential from Xavier University in addition to his graduate and undergraduate degrees. His parents, Rich and Kris Cecava, raised him and his brother Ted in Ogallala, Nebraska. He is a proud father to his son Mason. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, golf, travel, reading, and volunteering, and spends time hiking and staying active. He has lived in Saginaw and Fort Gratiot in Michigan and in Troy and Grove City in Ohio, and is active in community service through the YMCA, youth sports, and local economic development organizations in St. Clair County.
